A lot of small businesses run on shoestring budgets so if there’s a place to cut corners, they’re going to do it. That means that often they don’t think about swag for employees. But providing your employees with branded promotional items is a good idea for a number of reasons. Here are a few:
Why You Need Swag for Employees
Swag serves as a branding opportunity and advertisement but when you give it to employees, it does a whole lot more.
Welcomes Them
When a new employee starts, they’re usually really excited about joining your business. That makes it the perfect time to give them some branded swag. A simple coffee mug filled with goodies or desk items that are branded to you are a nice touch.
Makes Them Feel Accomplished
If you give branded promotional items for a job well done, such as a fantastic review or customer praise, your employee will associate that item with something positive–your praise. Then every time they look at the item, they’ll feel accomplished and proud.
Swag is also a great idea when you wrap up a massive undertaking or project. For instance, if you did a rebrand that took several months and lots of extra hours, give them a gift that will make them smile such as a t-shirt that reads “Survived the Summer of Rebranding” or “Rebranding Guru.”
Gives Them Bragging Rights
If you are fortunate enough to have a cool brand, you can bet your employees would love to wear a promotional item that shows they work there. If you don’t have a “cool” brand, you can still create a cool promotional item that will get them excited about wearing it around town. When they do, you have a walking billboard (and a great employee).
Sets Them Apart
If you’re attending a trade show or festival of some sort, giving your employees a branded uniform they feel comfortable in will make them identifiable as part of your company. But the fact it’s comfortable, in a style they enjoy, will help them shine as they represent you.
Are you giving away swag for employees? If so, what are you using and what’s been your most successful item?
