It’s that time of year again. The kids are about to go back to school. We’re days away from August and the fourth quarter will be here in minutes. Okay, so maybe I’m prone to exaggeration, but it’s definitely time to think about ordering your business calendars.
Actually, I take that back…the time for thinking is gone. You really need to start placing those orders to take advantage of the best deals out there.
When I tell business owners that calendars are great promotional marketing items, some of them scoff. They think everyone has gone digital. While that may be true for keeping our appointments, that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy something beautiful or funny to look at. In fact, most people keep them for an entire year (hello, that’s the point) and they look at them all the time. Can’t do better than that, can you?
Actually, you can.
You can make your customers pay for them.
What the???
Chick-fil-A’s Brilliant Business Calendar: Revenue and List Building
No, seriously. It can be done. People will pay for them. Take for instance, Chick-fil-A’s wildly popular calendar. It sells for under $10 and offers a special deal every month. Some are surprises and some are spelled out like a free medium-sized drink. For guests who use every month’s specials, you make your money back. But since most of us don’t, they likely make money on the sale of the calendar. They’d have to or they wouldn’t keep doing it.
Because even if you did come in every month faithfully, who stops by just to get a drink? No one. They buy a ton of other food. Because of that, Chick-fil-A’s calendars simply are an invitation to spend money in their stores.
Plus the calendar’s savings card must be registered online and guess what? They want information from you. They use that information to market to you all year and beyond.
Increased revenue, more customers, and customer email addresses. Pretty powerful combination.
Something to think about.
How will you use your calendar this year? Call us and we can talk about it.
