Did you send customer gifts this year? What about employee recognitions? Are you suddenly realizing it’s the middle of December and none of this has been done?
No worries.
Don’t try and put together a rush gift that will look like an afterthought. A lot of people will be out of the office next week anyway and your fruit basket is likely to get mixed in with everyone else’s fruit basket, or worse, get left at the office door while everyone else is out celebrating Christmas.
Celebrate 2016 with a Personalized Promotional Product
Instead set your sights on a gift for clients and employees in the new year. Don’t get lumped in with the end-of-the-year gifts and deliveries. Wish your VIP clients a successful 2016 with one of these gift ideas. It’s best to select one that fits the client’s needs or interests. Don’t select one of these and order them for all of your top clients. Personalize your gift giving just as you do for friends and family. While one-off giving isn’t cost-effective, ordering a smaller number of several gifts is better than a large lot of one kind (unless all of your top clients have exactly the same interests).
- an engraved executive imprinted pen set with the message “Start your 2016 off write.”
- a wearable fitness device
- a power bank to charge electronics
- a high-end travel bag for your road warrior clients
The one thing we would encourage you to avoid with a first quarter gift is anything that involves food. Loosing weight is one of the top New Year’s resolutions and you don’t want to be known for derailing your clients’ efforts.
For Employees
February is also a common time for sales meetings and employee recognitions from end-of-year performances. Put together a kick-off in the new year to get everyone excited and give out employee gifts and awards. Here are some suggestions:
- a personalized fleece jacket (if you know their size) with a message like “It’s getting hot in here. Here’s to an even hotter 2016!”
- a wearable fitness device with a note “Every step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goal.”
- a 6-month subscription to Audiobooks with a specific book downloaded to the account. One that you found inspiring that sets the tone for the new year. Talk about why you selected this book and what it means to you in your meeting. Encourage employees to read the book and give you their impressions. Use it to open up a conversation at your office.
Don’t feel the need to rush out and get a last-minute gift for clients and employees. Start the new year off right by showing your appreciation and sharing your goals for 2016. Your excitement and the kind gesture of a first quarter gift will stand out and be heard much more clearly than if you try and squeeze it in now when people are dreaming of sugar plums and time off.
