Build Morale with These Fun Business Activities
Here are more ideas for fun activities you can do to build morale and teamwork at your business:
- Support another small business: From painting parties to restaurants, there are tons of venues that can host a large group. It’s a great way to do something unique as a team outside of the office.
- Take an interest in your employees’ hobbies: Encourage book clubs, knitting clubs, or whatever your employees might be interested in, and encourage them to form a group during lunch breaks to do something non-work related.
- Encourage funny stories during team meetings: Start team meetings with a laugh. If no one has a story to share, have some of your own ready. Nostalgic stories about how things used to be can also be amusing for new employees and those who have been with you for a while.
- Bring in lunch once a month: Have lunch brought in at least once a month from an employee-chosen restaurant, and have a fun activity to go along with it. Encourage everyone to take part in the lunch in a common space. People shouldn’t go back to their desk. Tell them the work can wait. It’s time to enjoy themselves with their fellow co-workers. Plus, everyone loves free food!
- Host a happy hour event: And it doesn’t need to be at a bar or restaurant. Think of some new places to go as a team – a park, for example. Host a happy hour that revolves around doing something fun, such as a team baseball game. You could even buy your team tickets to go see a movie or go to a sporting event as a group. Anything that would get people out of the office, but still spend time and get to know the people they work with, will help create a good work environment.
Group costumes are just the first step to building morale; keep up with it by making sure your employees know that they are valued and that you want to create a work environment that is both productive and full of fun.
