Align Your Promotional Product with Your Business Goal

Align Your Promotional Product with Your Business Goal

Many people are surprised when we tell them that the kind of promotional item you select will either help you meet your business goal or impede it. They don’t realize the power these items have. Promotional items are geared towards very different results based on things like utility, cool factor, and desirability. In this blog we’ll help you understand how to tie your promotional item into your business goals and how to select the best one for you based on those goals.

Draw a Crowd

If you want to get people to your booth, a great way to do this is to select an uber cool, or cute, promotional product. You may limit the quantities or offer a contest to win these type items if they don’t fit into your budget. A traditional pen will not draw a crowd to your booth, a flinging alien will.

Keep in mind, you want a sales plan once you get people to your booth.

Cultivate a Slow Burn

If you have a long sales cycle, getting people to your booth won’t close a deal. Instead you’re probably looking for something that will keep your business top-of-mind as the customer goes through the buying decision. This means you want to select a long term item with great utility. Figure out the type of person who makes the final decision on your product or service and find an item that appeals to him/her.

You also want this item to be something s/he would keep where they spend the most of their business day. For instance, a weekender hat won’t be around or on the executive’s mind as s/he makes a business decision. A leather organizer would be.

Get the Message Out

Sometimes you’re just looking to reach a large quantity of people. This works best for a business that has a broad reach/demographic like a restaurant. In those cases you want to select a promotional product that has feet such as t-shirts, hats or other outward-facing branding opportunities.

With these items the “cooler” the design is, the more often people will wear it or carry it. A cool design also makes an impression on the crowd seeing it.
