When you own a small business, it’s easy to get caught up in your day-to-day routine and focus on what’s been working well. But you always want to be open to learning and growing, so here are five simple small business tips that can help move your business forward.
1) Read Small Business Magazines
There are many resources that offer sound advice and inspiration for the small business owner, including blogs, books, podcasts, and online communities. But don’t forget about magazines. Some of the best are Entrepreneur, Inc., Small Business Today, and Small Business Trends, all of which are available online and in print, some even have summaries and digests available. One of my favorites for quickie news is theSkimm.
2) Make Sure Your Blog Is Helping Your Business
You want your blog posts to be informative and provide information that interests your customers. You should also ensure that your posts are professionally written, not overly populated with keywords that detract from your posts, and provide links to pertinent websites and blogs. Pay attention to what gets traction and what doesn’t. Adjust your content accordingly.
3) Utilize Visuals to Bolster Your Social Media Presence
Customers love pictures and videos that help tell your small business’ story, so utilize social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest to share your products or services. Just remember that simple is better, highlight keywords to resonate with your audience, and make sure that your visuals are appropriate for the platform you’re using. If you are on Facebook and Instagram, let’s connect.
4) Continue to Build Trust With Your Customers
If you haven’t already, make it a priority to interact with customers on social media and ask them for feedback and to write reviews. Find out why they like about your product or service and ask how it could be better. Earning their trust will go a long way to ensuring that they are repeat customers.
5) Make Goals an Integral Part of Your Business Mindset
As always, continue to set goals that include benchmarks and deadlines. You have to know where you want to go before you can get there.
