It’s easy these days to get down on things that are happening in the world. People are looking and searching for activities to feel good about. Your business can help with that and in the midst improve your business marketing.
This idea works well for two reasons:
- The holidays are normally associated with a time to give thanks and express gratitude
- 30-day challenges are wildly popular
You may already practice gratitude in your personal life: gratitude journals, social media challenges to post 30 things you’re thankful for, and taking turns at the table at Thanksgiving to mention what you are most thankful for are all popular practices.
So why not show your gratitude in your work life as well?
Business Marketing: Ideas for 30-Days of Gratitude
Here are four different ways you can implement a “30 Days of Gratitude” program that will engage your customers and embrace the thoughtfulness of the season:
30 Days of Giveaways
Every day in November, host a surprise giveaway. Whether in-person or by using social media, ask your customers to tell you what they are thankful for by writing it down or commenting on one of your posts. You can then randomly draw a winner at the end of the day to come to the store to pick out a prize. This is a great way to give out some swag, and you can even offer extra entries for anyone who shares the post with a friend.
Gratitude Pumpkins
Don’t throw away those pumpkins from Halloween. If they are still sturdy and haven’t been carved, gratitude pumpkins are a great tradition to start for your business.
How does it work? Ask customers, employees, or anyone who stops by to write one word or a sentence about what they are most thankful for on your pumpkin with a Sharpie. By the time the end of November comes, the pumpkins will be covered in gratitude. Add your own each day as well, to help encourage others to follow your example.
30 Customer Spotlights
For 30 days, spotlight a customer on Facebook or your other social media accounts. By showcasing your customers you are proving that they are an important part of your business family and it shows you care. Use the post to get to know your customers and interview them. Let them know you are doing a 30 days of gratitude program on Facebook. They will be excited to see their name and face on your Facebook wall. You can call it “Grateful for: <Name of Customer>.” Keep up with it every day of November to really make an impact. If daily isn’t your thing, do one every week.
The Thank You Jar
With a mason jar and strips of paper, create a Thank You Jar. It’s a great way to engage your customers, but also the other businesses in town by passing it along. Have your fellow business owners ask their customers to write down what they are thankful for about your town. At the end of the month, post all the answers on your social media pages, create an infographic, or piece of art based on the answers. You can give your thank you jar or art to the chamber of commerce.
And while all these ideas work great for customers, they can also be just as easily implemented with your employees. Gratitude programs let your customers and your employees know how much you appreciate them.
With so many simple and easy ways to let everyone who supports your business know how grateful you are, you’ll not only feel good, your customers and employees will too.
