Engagement is important to us at ThinkQuik. Most of our employees have been here over a decade and the thought of one of them checking out mentally…well, I would take that very personally.
We’re fortunate to have a tight bond here but some companies really struggle with keeping morale high. Sometimes it’s simpler than you think.
Most employees want to be a part of something bigger than their job. They want to be part of a company they can be proud of; one where they fit in and are valued.
Promotional items are not just for conferences or tradeshows. They go a long way in making employees feel important and appreciated and are a great way to provide (often) much needed employee recognition.
How to Use Promotional Items for Employee Recognition
It’s more than just giving your employees something. Because let’s face it, if they really hate the company a tee-shirt isn’t going to turn them into your best employee ever. But here are a few tips on how a promotional item can become HR’s secret weapon:
Goal Attainment Awards
Gone are the days of a gold watch upon retirement but that doesn’t mean you can’t use items as rewards for an employee who’s gone above and beyond. Unexpected gifts that say thanks for your efforts, make people feel valued because their employer is recognizing their hard work and appreciating them.
Recognitions
You can also use giveaways to signify an advanced level in places like a call center. For instance a pin, particular shirt color, or hat can easily be presented to senior customer support employees. Not only will they proudly wear this outward indicator of their advanced knowledge, but it’s easy for newbies with questions to locate people who can help them (outside of the management team).
Branding
If you are lucky enough to have a really cool company, your employees may be jumping at the opportunity to wear a branded shirt or cap, or carry branded drinkware around town. Giving them corporate apparel or branded items makes them feel valued. While they show the pride they have in the company they work for they will also get your message out there.
Just as a bandage won’t fix a broken leg, promotional items aren’t the answer to a disengaged employee base. However, acknowledging the efforts of the people who make your success possible is a gesture that comes back to you again and again.
