If you tie your giveaway into what your target recipient wants and needs, you’ll rarely have leftover swag. However, sometimes you’re ready for something new, or you’ve rebranded, and you need to get rid of the promotional product leftovers on your shelf.
What Should I Do with My Promotional Product Leftovers?
Here are some suggestions to get the most marketing juice from your older giveaways:
Employee Recognition Gifts
If your employees didn’t help themselves to the giveaways the moment you came back from your trade show, giving an item to each department to award it as they see fit is a nice way to use up your stock and make people in your company feel special. If you have enough, you can give them to every employee as a little added something to brighten their day.
Vendor or Partner Gifts
If you work closely with another company as a vendor or supplier, present them with one of your promotional product leftovers. Even if they don’t buy directly from you, if you have a useful item you’re giving your marketing legs when you send it on its way with the supplier contact. In its new home at their business you don’t know who will see it. For instance, a messenger bag that is used daily by a salesperson can be seen by many people.
Targeted Contest Awards
Think about where you want your swag to go and create a contest to get it there. For instance, if you’d like to target teachers, create a social media contest asking people to nominate their favorite teacher and give you a reason why. You can judge the entries or count the amount of likes each entry gets. The winning teacher receives your item, a note about how special the person who nominated them thinks they are and maybe a small value gift card. You can also run a best customer award or “most unique use of our product” contest. These types of mini contests drive traffic to your social media pages and get people engaged with you.
If you have leftover promotional products don’t let them go to waste. Give them one last chance to bring you business with these ideas.
